Ishida Mitsunari
Ishida Mitsunari (石田 三成 1560-1600) is a samurai who led the West side in the Battle of Sekigahara.
Born in what is Shiga prefecture now, he had served to Toyotomi Hideyoshi since he was still very young. He was known for his knowledge and skill at calculation. After he was defeated, he sought to escape but was caught by villagers as he passed their town.
The story of James Clavell's novel Shogun, is based on the strife between Ishida (Ishido, in the novel) and Tokugawa (Toranaga).
