JetStar

Jetstar Airways, or Jetstar, is an Australian domestic low-cost airline launched by Qantas in 2004. Jetstar was the created by Qantas in response to the threat posed by Australia's first low-cost airline, Virgin Blue. Although Jetstar is a new airline, it is operating under the legal entity formerly known as Impulse Airlines before Qantas' takeover on 20 November 2001.

Jetstar began selling tickets on selected routes in February 2004 for flights departing from 25 May 2004 onwards.

Unlike the other major Australian domestic airlines, Jetstar is based at Avalon Airport, Melbourne's second airport near Geelong.
