Målselv

The municipality Målselv in the county of Troms, Norway, has 6,856 inhabitants as of January 1, 2002. Its area is 3324km².

Målselv was settled by farmers from southern Norway, especially Østerdalen from 1796 and onwards. They were attracted by the uninhabited land with vast forests and areas of fertile land in the Målselv valley.

The Bardufoss airport (IATA Airport Code BDU) is situated here.

The local newspaper Nye Troms (covers Målselv, Bardu and Balsfjord) is located here.
