Russian Constituent Assembly

The Russian Constituent Assembly (Vserossiiskoe Uchreditelnoe Sobranie) was a democratic organization envisioned after the February Revolution of 1917. It was to be a democratically elected body which would hold elections at the end of October in 1917. Of course in October of 1917, the Bolsheviks seized power and while allowing elections to continue they did not heed the results of those elections. In those elections, the Bolsheviks received only 25% of the vote and sure enough they dissolved the short lived Constituent Assembly.
