Influenza or Flu

Influenza, or flu, is a contagious respiratory infection caused by several flu viruses that infect the nose, throat and lungs. People infected with the seasonal flu virus feel miserable with fever, chills, muscle aches, coughing, congestion, headache and fatigue for a week or so. Most people who get the flu get better within two weeks, but some people may develop serious complications, such as pneumonia.

Symptoms of the flu usually come on suddenly and may include: fever or feeling feverish/chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches and fatigue (tiredness). Some people may also have vomiting and diarrhea. This is more common in children.

Pandemic influenza is when a new flu virus strain occurs that can spread easily from person-to-person and the virus is one for which most people have no immunity.

"We often unintentionally prolong colds and flu by giving germs the opportunity to linger." ~ Maya Gavric

Did You Know?

Both, flu and cold are diseases caused by viruses and have some symptoms in common, but they are different conditions and the flu is more severe. Unlike the flu, colds generally don’t cause serious complications, such as pneumonia, or lead to hospitalization.

There’s not enough scientific evidence to show whether the complementary approaches that have been studied for the flu prevent the flu or relieve flu symptoms.

Influenza can be serious or even deadly, especially for people over 65, newborn babies, and people with certain chronic illnesses.

Power is something related to the power hidden within you!" ~ Mehmet Murat Ildan
